How do I not lose myself in motherhood?

Keep one small thing that is only yours, and say its name out loud. Your identity deserves room alongside the new role you are growing into.

Somewhere between the first scan and the last baby shower, the questions change. What will you name the baby? Have you packed the bag? How is the little one? The excitement is full of love. It can also leave a woman wondering where she went.

You may be delighted, uncertain, curious, tired, or several of these in the same hour. You do not need to choose a single feeling that makes your story easy for someone else to understand.

An open journal, burgundy pen, lotus flower and tea in soft morning light

Think of something you loved before this chapter. Music in the car. Making things with your hands. A conversation about work. A long lunch with a friend who knows all your other stories.

There is no perfect routine to follow. There is only the small practice of remembering that you have a name, a voice and a life that will keep unfolding. Ask for the support that gives those things some space.

At Still You, we make a day for that woman. Who you were. Who you are. Who you will always be.

This letter is a reflection, not medical advice. Please follow your doctor’s guidance and seek professional support when you need it.

With love,
